Course Description
Microfinance has been hailed as one of the most effective tools for combating poverty through loans, grants, insurance and other financial products offered to the poorest of the global poor around the world. This course provides in-depth discussions on these issues, introduces microfinance principles and practices and examines the contemporary debates on microfinance from developmental standpoint. The main objective of the course is to prepare students to take on roles as policy analysts and technical advisers on development tools in banks and financial institutions, foundations, governments, multilateral development organisations and international agencies.
