ENVR 445: Gender and Environment

Course Description

This course examines the complex relationships between gender and the environment, with a focus on how environmental
challenges and policies affect men and women differently across the Global North and South. Students will explore key topics such
as natural resource management, agriculture, energy access, climate change, urbanization, and environmental health through a
gender lens. The course integrates economic theory, empirical methods, and policy analysis, emphasizing real-world applications
and evidence-based interventions. Students will also design and present an NGO-style project addressing a gender-environment
issue.

Prerequisites: SSST 100: Craft of Social Inquiry and (ECON 111: Intro to Macroeconomics or ECON 110: Intro to Microeconomics)
